The Brazilian Regulatory Standard NBR 5410 – Low Voltage Electrical Installations is a regulation that establishes two rules that must be adopted when choosing wires and cables: the first concerns the neutral conductor, which must always be light blue, and the second defines that the protective conductor (also called ground) must be green or green and yellow — the so-called “brasileirinho.”
This standard also determines that other colors are free to use, as long as they are not used for neutral or ground conductors.
They can be used to create differentiation between various electrical circuits, such as lighting, outlets, showers, or even air conditioning installations.
Therefore, NBR 5410 aims to facilitate maintenance on electrical circuits through the standardization and correct identification of electrical conductors according to the function they perform.
