Electricity is essential and strategic for the operation of industries across the country and in various sectors.
However, its cost significantly impacts business performance in the country.
Data from 2015 by the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) ranked Brazilian energy as the third most expensive in the world, only behind countries like India and Italy, with the cost of a megawatt-hour reaching R$ 534.28.
According to Firjan and the study ‘How Much Does Energy Cost for Industry in Brazil’, 79% of industries consider energy the main input for their production lines, which can represent more than 40% of their production costs.
Another survey, this time by the Brazilian Association of Energy Distributors (Abradee), published in November, indicated that the energy rate charged to the country’s industrial sector is the seventh most expensive in the world.
These high costs not only impact the performance of the Brazilian industrial sector but also directly affect investments in the sector and the country’s competitiveness compared to other countries, especially BRIC members and other partners like the United States and Germany.
In this scenario, the use of temporary energy, provided by power generators, has proven to be an excellent option to try to minimize costs, especially during peak hours – between 5 PM and 10 PM.
During these hours, when power generation is more expensive, using power generators can lead to savings of up to 30% on the bill.
