Natural gas-powered engines are a global trend due to their lower noise, reduced pollutant emissions, and lower maintenance costs.
Tecnogera has partnered with Companhia de Gás de São Paulo (Comgás), the largest piped gas distributor in the country, to rent natural gas generators to all condominiums within its concession area in the State of São Paulo.
The coverage area includes the entire São Paulo Metropolitan Region, the Campinas Administrative Region, the Baixada Santista, and the Paraíba Valley.
With this partnership, Comgás, which serves over 1.7 million customers in São Paulo, will now offer natural gas generators in its application portfolio, which already includes heaters for spaces, pools, barbecues, saunas, spas, air conditioning, dryers, fireplaces, and more.
When Comgás identifies the need for generators in condominiums during customer service, the demand will be forwarded to Tecnogera, which will propose a rental agreement.
The proposed rental model can last up to five years, and at the end of the period, the generator becomes the property of the condominium.
“The partnership with Comgás is very strategic for Tecnogera. Offering generators that run on natural gas was already a company goal,” notes Abraham Curi, CEO of Tecnogera.
For condominiums served by the distributor, the advantage of renting natural gas-powered generators goes beyond lower noise and pollutant emissions; it also includes lower maintenance costs and ensures the operation of elevators, automatic gates, and common area lighting in case of power outages from the utility company.
It can also extend to private areas, providing power to all condominium units if necessary.

Since they run on natural gas, the generators do not require fuel tank maintenance by condominium staff, eliminating health hazards in this process.
And being rented, the generators come with 24-hour technical support, fast service, and highly qualified teams.
“The use of natural gas generators is a global trend.
Currently, about 9% of the generator market runs on this type of fuel, compared to 87% on diesel.
However, these percentages are expected to balance out over the years, as legal and environmental restrictions on fossil fuels continue to grow,” adds the CEO.
Another factor strengthening the use of natural gas generators is the expected growth in installed capacity for this type of engine, which ended 2015 at 12.9 GW and is projected to reach 26.3 GW by 2024.
