Brazilian industrial production registers growth in 2017
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) has just announced a new edition of the Monthly Industrial Survey Physical Production Brazil (PIM-PF), which indicated that Brazilian industrial production closed with an accumulated growth of 2.5% in 2017, after three consecutive years of decline. The result is the first positive indicator since 2013. In that year, the industry recorded an annual growth of 2.1%.
Outlook for 2018
And the good news doesn’t stop there. With the prospect of economic recovery, the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) predicts further expansion for the sector in 2018. Growth is expected to be around 3%, and since 2011, it will be the first time that the industry will grow more than the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Optimism also extends to the sector’s supply chain, with emphasis on temporary energy.
