Wind Power Growth Boosts Temporary Power Sector

The wind energy market remains highly promising with excellent prospects in Brazil and worldwide, strengthening the use of wind-generated power. According to data from the Generation Information Database – BIG, by Aneel, it is expected that by 2020, wind power will establish itself as the country's second-largest energy source, with Brazil ranking fourth in investment, eighth in wind power generation, and tenth in installed capacity. Additionally, the Brazilian Wind Energy Association – ABEEólica, in its Annual Wind Power Generation Bulletin, reported that 2016 ended with $5.4 billion in investments in the wind sector. The Bulletin also noted that last year, over 2 GW of wind energy were added to the national power grid.

The wind energy market remains very promising with great prospects in Brazil and worldwide, strengthening the use of wind-generated energy.

According to data from the Generation Information Bank – BIG, from Aneel, it is expected that by 2020, wind generation will consolidate as the country’s second energy source and that Brazil will rank fourth among the biggest investors, eighth in wind energy generation, and tenth in installed capacity.

According to the Brazilian Wind Energy Association – ABEEólica, in its Annual Wind Generation Bulletin, the year 2016 ended with US$ 5.4 billion in investments in the wind sector.

Considering the period from 2009 to 2016, this number totals US$ 32 billion.

Also according to the Bulletin, last year, more than 2 GW of wind energy were added to the national electricity matrix through 81 new parks.

With this amount, the sector ended 2016 with 10.75 GW of installed capacity, in a total of 430 parks.

This result made wind energy represent 7% of the country’s energy matrix.

As a result, more than 17 million households were supplied monthly with wind energy, which is equivalent to approximately 52 million inhabitants, a volume 58% higher than the 33 million people benefited in 2015.

Such good performance directly reflected in job creation.

It is estimated that more than 30,000 jobs were created in 2016 by the wind sector.

Another organization that released very optimistic data about the sector was the Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber – CCEE.

According to the CCEE, data released last September indicated that between January and July of this year, wind energy production carried out by the National Interconnected System – SIN, grew by more than 25% compared to the same period last year.

In total, the 446 wind source plants in operation in Brazil produced 3,791 MW.

Rio Grande do Norte was the leading state in the production of this type of energy.

And the favorable winds, which are blowing in favor of wind energy, are also positively impacting the temporary energy supply market, which has a very strategic role in the construction phase of wind farms and commissioning of wind turbines, which have already surpassed the mark of 5,200 in operation in more than 400 Brazilian wind farms.

In the implementation phase of the wind farm, the use of generators is essential, as the installation sites are not usually connected to traditional energy transmission networks.

During the construction, the main purposes of using generators are to supply the operations site and energize all the equipment used in the civil part of the project, which involves large machines and structures ranging from accommodations to kitchens.

In the commissioning phase of the wind turbines, which is one of the most important stages of the construction, load banks ensure the continuous supply of energy.

They also allow the equipment responsible for energy generation and transmission to be tested.

In this phase, it is possible to identify any system failures, avoiding losses and preventing accidents.

In recent years, Tecnogera has been strongly operating in the wind sector and in the commissioning of wind turbines.

This year, the company reached the milestone of 2,000 commissioned turbines, consolidating it as one of the leaders in this segment.

With more than a decade of operation in the market, Tecnogera offers complete and tailored solutions for the wind sector, for the most different phases of a project.

In addition to the company’s expertise, Tecnogera has a highly qualified and trained team of professionals to work on projects of great complexity.
