Temporary Power Solutions for Retail

Brazilian retail grew by 3.2% in October 2018, with Black Friday sales increasing by 23% compared to the previous year (exceeding the 15% expectation). The event expanded from online to physical stores, raising concerns about power. Outages during key dates like Black Friday and Christmas can lead to sales losses and damage to reputation. High temperatures drive up demand for air conditioning. Tecnogera provides customized 24/7 solutions with a fleet of 800+ power generators for retail sector contingencies.
Index

According to the Expanded Retail Index (ICVA) by Cielo, released on November 14, 2018, Brazilian retail grew by about 3.2% in October compared to the same period in 2017. In nominal terms, which reflects retailers’ perception of their revenues, this percentage rises to 7.2%. Children’s Day is certainly the main driver of such a promising result.

And this month’s sales also surprised due to the much-hyped Black Friday. According to data from Ebit | Nielsen, presented on the 24th, the growth recorded was 23% compared to the campaign held last year, surpassing the expected 15%.

Expansion of Black Friday to physical retail

Previously stronger online with e-commerce, the famous “promotion day” has also gained traction in physical retail in recent times. With a larger volume of people going to stores in search of deals, retailers’ concern for customer well-being has also increased.

However, imagine if, on Black Friday, one of the most anticipated dates for the sector, a major appliance store loses power. The consequences would be:

  • Inability to present launches and offers
  • Difficulties in issuing invoices
  • Interruption of sales at the checkout
  • Security risks with monitoring system failures
  • Immediate financial losses
  • Damage to the establishment’s reputation

Holiday season and high energy demand

But the concern with energy issues cannot end Black Friday! With the arrival of December, the countdown to Christmas begins, the last chance in 2018 for retailers to close another year of crisis in the black.

During this period, when the rush to shopping centers and traditional shopping streets increases, there is still an aggravating factor: high temperatures. Hot days demand more from the air conditioning systems of establishments in general, which operate at maximum capacity to keep shopping areas in good condition to receive thousands of consumers.

Importance of temporary energy in retail

With all these demands and being a constantly moving sector, retail needs the electricity supply service to be practical, fast, and safe. This is where generators stand out! It is essential to have a contingency plan to meet the segment’s emergency needs and prevent blackouts and power outages from disrupting business.
